Throughout the Human Ecology master’s program, I have studied educational policy, teacher burnout, employee wellness, organizational behavior, and current retention management strategies used by both the private and public sector. Our most valuable resource as a society is human capital. I would like to help create spaces in which we can thrive, both as humans and employees and believe it should be done using an interdisciplinary approach. I graduated from UW–La Crosse with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and then worked for seven years as a kindergarten teacher. It was through my teaching career that I realized the dire need for interventions that promote teacher thriving versus surviving in the workplace, to ultimately combat burnout while enhancing teacher well-being and retention.
