Alum Makes a Difference

The SoHE’s renamed Michael Axelrod Collaborative Learning Hall recognizes a wonderfully generous gift from Michael Axelrod (BS ’93, Consumer Science).

Axelrod started his wealth management career while still a junior in the School of Human Ecology (then Family Resources and Consumer Sciences). Working with the School’s internship coordinator, he secured a highly competitive collegiate internship with Northwestern Mutual and was named a National “Top 10” college intern in1992 and 1993.  Upon graduation, he joined Bleakley, Schwartz, Cooney & Finney, a New York City area boutique wealth management firm within Northwestern Mutual. A partner since 1999, he has helped grow the firm while helping clients across the country.

A SoHE Board of Visitors member, Axelrod aims to help establish the Personal Finance program as one of the best nationally. The program is already one of the top 30. As noted in Financial Planning magazine.
