Professor Sarmadi Recognized for Teaching

Professor Majid Saramdi in the SoHE Department of Design Studies has been selected by the UW-Madison Distinguished Teaching Awards Committee to receive the Van Hise Outreach Teaching Award.

The academic accomplishments of Dr. Majid Sarmadi, Rothermel Bascom Professor at the School of Human Ecology, are many, but what most distinguishes him is his commitment to sharing his considerable expertise beyond the classroom in order to help as many people as possible. This work includes minority and underserved youth, state and national government entities, the general public and private industry, ranging from small start-ups to international corporations that help drive the Wisconsin economy.

Truly, this is the heart and soul of the Wisconsin Idea.

Sarmadi’s passion and ingenuity infuse his teaching – he is known for taking initiative to continually connect with new audiences and varying his approach to teaching and delivery to best engage each set of learners. The sward ceremony takes place April 11 2018.

Congratulations Professor Sarmadi, well-deserved!
