Funding Opportunities for the week of September 18 – September 24, 2020

Last chance to apply! Pandemic-Affected Research Continuation Initiative sponsored by the OVCRGE will support projects impacted by COVID-19 for which expenditures were compelled to continue although certain research activities were stalled and the project now faces a shortage of funds to complete those activities. Support for loss of critical and time-sensitive research supplies and resources due to reduction of on-site research activities will also be considered. Awards may be up to $50,000. Applications are due Monday September 28, 2020 at 4:30PM. Click here to apply.

Sociological Initiatives Foundation Participatory Action Research grant program invites concept papers for projects that link an explicit research design to a concrete social action strategy. The research should build an organization or constituency’s potential to expand public knowledge, impact policy, and create social change. Awards range from $10,000 to $20,000 for projects up to two years in duration. Applications are due October 15, 2020.

This session will provide SoHE researchers with an overview of the major processes and compliance requirements that are involved with preparing and submitting a research grant application and receiving a grant award. How to Avoid Delays in the IRB Approval Process
Wednesday October 21, 2020 – 10:00am-11:00am

This session will address the most frequent errors seen by IRB Staff when reviewing protocol submissions and how to avoid them. Also, a checklist of items that can slow the approval process of a protocol submission will be reviewed. Because this session is being offered via Cisco WebEx, registration is required. Registrants will receive a WebEx invitation the day before the event.

News

Congratulations to Assistant Professors Yiwei Zhang, Consumer Science and Leah Horowitz, Civil Society and Community Studies, awardees of a Spring Semester 2021 Course Release to work on research proposal development and grant writing. Course Release Incentive Funds are one component of SoHE research support funds that were made available by Dean Shim in 2019 to support advancing SoHE’s productivity and impact in research, scholarship, and grants.

SoHE KnowledgeBase (KB) is live! There are currently over a dozen pages (with more on the way) on research-related topics such as finding funding, proposal and budget preparation and submission, research policies and compliance, receiving and setting up a grant award, links to frequently needed forms and templates, FAQs, and lots more.
