The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) intends to publish an FOA to solicit applications on (1) observational research to understand the role of structural racism and discrimination (SRD) in causing and sustaining health disparities, and (2) intervention research that addresses SRD in order to improve minority health or reduce health disparities. The National Science Foundation Division of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences, Social Psychology funds projects in social cognition, attitudes, social and cultural influence, stereotypes, motivation, decision making, group dynamics, aggression, close relationships, social and affective neuroscience, social psychophysiology, emotions, prosocial behavior, health-related behavior, and personality and individual differences. Funding is available for up to three (3) 50% PA appointments for projects to support 50% PA appointments in support of Extension-related initiatives, with funding starting summer 2021 (for 12-month appointments) or fall 2021 (for 9-month appointments). Two positions are targeted for projects supported by Extension Specialists. The third position is intended to strengthen ties between Extension and SoHE’s Equity and Justice Network, and is NOT limited to an Extension Specialist. All positions are specifically for funding SoHE graduate students.

The SoHE Indigenous EcoWell Initiative is compromised of Native/Indigenous faculty whose work focuses on the intersections of Indigenous cultures, health, language and community. Up to $1000 is available to support students, faculty, staff, schools/divisions, organizations at UW-Madison in their work to build and engage a community of scholars, practitioners, undergraduate, and graduate students who work with, learn from, and honor Indigenous communities in Wisconsin. This session explores the complete life-cycle of a human subjects research project after IRB approval, including: Changes, Continuing Review, Reportable Events, Study Completion, Data Storage, and Potential Audits.

- Reminder to the SoHE community to submit your annual Outside Activities Report (OAR) by April 30. Annual OAR submission is required for all faculty, academic staff (0.5 FTE and higher), and those involved in human subjects research or listed as a senior/key person on a federal grant.
