Funding Opportunities

SoHE: SoHE grad scholarship and fellowship opportunities have been updated on their website.

UW Office of the Provost: Baldwin WI Idea Pre-Proposals are due November 11, 2019.  SoHE faculty planning to submit a pre-proposal are asked to notify Sarah Marcotte, SoHE pre-award research administrator, by November 1, 2019, for planning purposes.  Sarah can also pre-review the budget and provide non-technical/compliance review of the pre-proposal.

UW Institute for Research in the Humanities (IRH): The Institute for Research in the Humanities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is pleased to announce its annual competition for up to six one-semester Resident Fellowships for UW-Madison faculty who are working on a project of significance for the humanities and up to two one-semester Race, Ethnicity, and Indigeneity (REI) Fellowships for UW-Madison faculty with projects that focus directly on race, ethnicity, and/or indigeneity in any part of the world and historical period and that foster comparative study of these issues with a clear significance for the humanities. These Resident and REI Faculty Fellowships will be granted for semesters within the 2020-2021 academic year.  Applications for both competitions are due Thursday October 3, 2019.  For more information, including full calls, application instructions, and links to the Interfolio applications, visit the IRH Fellowships page and scroll down to “Internal Fellowships.”

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF): RWJF recently released Policies for Action (P4A) newest call for proposals. This unique opportunity will support six early-career researchers from underrepresented and historically disadvantaged backgrounds with up to $250,000 each to help us understand and find solutions that promote health equity and foster action on policies and laws that can help us build a Culture of Health. The deadline for submissions is October 2, 2019. More details can be found on P4A’s website.

Training and Educational Opportunities

UW: The Researcher Regulatory Fair will be held Tuesday October 29, 2019 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Union South’s Varsity Hall.  This event gives faculty, staff, trainees, students and administrators the opportunity to meet with campus regulatory experts from IRB, Export Control office, Research and Sponsored Programs, Conflict of Interest specialists, and a host of other research-related areas.  More information can be found here.
