Maheen AkramGraduate Studentshe/her/hers

I am a first year PhD student in the Consumer Behavior & Family Economics program. I received my undergraduate degree from Wellesley College in economics and political science. Immediately upon graduating from college, I started working at Goldman Sachs (GS) as a financial coach. I had the opportunity to work with hundreds of clients over the course of three years to educate and equip them to better achieve their financial goals. Through this experience, I became interested in researching the merit of financial advisory services, robo-advisors. I am also interested in learning more about the behavioral elements and value systems that impact people’s investment decision making. I would like to find ways to make it easier for people to invest in halal (Islamically compliant) ESG portfolios. I hope that my research helps create solutions which could make it easier for people to conduct their own investing, based on their own values.
