My retailing career officially began in Los Angeles with The Broadway. Stops along with way with The Gap in San Bruno, California and May Department Stores in St. Louis and Los Angeles. At May LA, I was part of the first Better Sportswear Private label Development Team. This experience ignited my passion for design and merchandising and a second career in wholesale sales and the creation of Liz and Lauren Sleepwear. In 2008, I joined our local YMCA as Director of Financial Development. This shift led me to a third career as a philanthropic advisor for Occidental College and most recently, the University of Texas at Austin where I served as Director of Principal Gifts for the College of Natural Sciences.
Why do you care about Human Ecology?
Understanding and caring about community and how the individual or family unit grows and thrives has always been a great motivator for my personal life and work. I believe this focus enriches relationships with family, friends and colleagues.
What excites you about your role as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board?
I’ve always been proud of my degree and affiliation with UW. I am beyond excited to assist with moving Dean Shim’s vision forward and the opportunity to mentor students.
