I am a PhD student in the Consumer Behavior & Family Economics program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, researching K-12 school food programs and value-based procurement. Drawing on over 20 years in sustainable food systems, I am driven by the conviction that transforming public school food programs can reduce environmental harm, improve public health, and cultivate positive eating habits, pro-social behaviors, and a deeper sense of connection among students.
In my professional career, prior to arriving at UW–Madison, my mission has been to spearhead community-driven initiatives that champion equity and environmental sustainability. I am committed to transforming the food system through institutional value-based procurement, coalition building, workforce development, and environmental justice advocacy — creating scalable models that use institutions like schools to bolster environmental efforts, support sustainable regional food systems, and foster lifelong learning.
Drawing on my background in ecological systems thinking, learning design, and social justice, I am especially passionate about amplifying the voices of young changemakers and women, and engaging with diverse communities.
At UW–Madison, I am pursuing an emphasis in quantitative research methods and microeconomics applied to food systems and environmental sustainability.
