My 30-plus year career was concentrated in the UW Division of Extension and the Consumer Science department in the School of Human Ecology. My research, teaching, and outreach projects focused on family estate planning, marital property law/public policy reform, privacy issues, consumer protection, and aspects of elder exploitation. My interest in family resource management was motivated by one simple goal: to protect and strengthen the family unit. My leadership and mentoring of students and young professionals in their participation in state and national organizations is primarily through serving as advisor of the Phi Upsilon Omicron Honor Society and Wisconsin Association of Family Consumer Sciences. In my retirement, much of my time is focused on encouraging philanthropy within the community.
