Jill PeskinDean's Advisory Board Member

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1997 through its joint dual-degree program with the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), remaining in New York City to pursue my career in fashion. Over the past 30 years, I have built extensive experience in women’s and juniors’ apparel design, specializing in the mass and off-price markets while leading teams of designers and technical designers. Throughout my career, I have designed and developed successful apparel programs for major retailers. As a senior design leader, I combine creative vision, trend and market expertise, team leadership, and commercial strategy to develop compelling brands and drive retail growth.

Why do you care about Human Ecology?

I care deeply about Human Ecology because it brings together creativity, innovation, and a strong understanding of people to improve everyday lives. Its interdisciplinary approach shaped how I think about design — not only as a creative pursuit, but as a way to respond to people’s evolving needs. I am passionate about supporting this work and helping prepare the next generation of thoughtful, creative leaders.

What excites you about your role as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board?

The School of Human Ecology at UW–Madison holds special meaning for me because it provided the foundation for my career in the fashion industry and the opportunity to participate in the joint degree program with FIT. I value the school’s unique combination of creativity, innovation, and real-world learning. I am excited to give back to the community that helped shape my professional journey and to support the next generation of students as they pursue their own career paths.
