Funding Opportunities for the week of February 3-7, 2020
Faculty Award Nomination – The Spitze Land Grant Faculty Award: Nominations are being accepted for the Robert G. F. and Hazel T. Spitze Land Grant Faculty Award for Excellence to recognize and encourage faculty who exemplify the Land Grant philosophy. The purpose of this award is to reward comprehensive scholarly performance over a sustained period of time in all areas of academic responsibility unique to the Land Grant mission including teaching and advising, research and publication, outreach/extension and public service, and participation in professional organizations and faculty governance.
Award recipients shall be tenured faculty members with at least 10 years (inclusive of approved leaves) of continuous paid appointment (over 50%) in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences or the School of Human Ecology.
Nominations are due February 14, 2020.
UW Global Health Institute – Planetary Health Scholars: With the Planetary Health Graduate Scholarship program, the University of Wisconsin-Madison brings together graduate students and their faculty advisors from across disciplines who study how the health of the planet and the health of humans are interdependent. Together, they will find solutions that benefit health for all, leading us toward resilience and a healthier, more sustainable future. Students receive $5,000 awards and the student’s advisor(s) receive $1,000.
Applications are due March 1, 2020 through the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub.
UW SMPH, Wisconsin Partnership Program – Community Impact Grants: The Wisconsin Partnership Program at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking applicants for its 2020 Community Impact Grant Program. The overarching goal of the Community Impact Grant Program is to advance health equity in Wisconsin communities through support for large-scale, evidence-informed, community-academic partnership initiatives that address the social determinants of health. These partnerships require substantial and authentic community leadership/perspectives to achieve sustainable systems change and must be supported by robust evaluation. Each award is for a maximum of $1 million over a five year period.
Letters of Intent are due March 4, 2020.
UW Center for the Humanities – Borghesi-Mellon Workshops: Support from Nancy and David Borghesi and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation allows the Center for the Humanities to support 3-5 new interdisciplinary workshops in the humanities each year. Each of the workshops selected for funding receives a budget of up to $5,000 to purchase materials, pay honoraria, cover travel costs for outside speakers, establish a website, promote workshop activities, and cover other related expenses. Proposals should be developed by a group of at least four individuals; one or more members of this group must be a student (graduate or undergraduate) and no more than two organizing members can be from the same department.
Applications are due March 24, 2020.
IRB Workshop
The ED/SBS IRB is offering an informational session on the topic of International Research & Summer Projects. This session addresses issues unique to international research, travel, and other summer projects.
