Kirkorian on Children and Interactive Media

Children and instructors interact in the School of Human Ecology Preschool Lab, which is housed in the newly renovated Nancy Nicholas Hall.Heather Kirkorian, PhD, was recently quoted in an interview by a WFMZ, a Pennsylvania and New Jersey news outlet. The article cites her research that determines if 2-year-olds learn best from interactive digital media. Although there needs to be more research on interactive media and children, Kirkorian concludes the interview by stating that simple apps are beneficial to children because they allow them to play and explore in an experience.

Vivian Empowers Underserved Communities to Overpower Diabetes

Graduate student Eva VivianCSCR grad student and Pharmacy School professor Eva Vivian launched a Peers Empowering Peers, a program where they teach community members how to live healthier lives from balanced meals to stress management. This program hopes to empower other community members to promote wellness to improve the health of the community as a whole. Read more about Vivian’s actions and plans here.
