Tune in: The Skinny on School Lunch with SoHE's Prof Gaddis on HBO

The episode was released May 10 and can still be seen on HBO. Watch the teaser here

Jennifer Gaddis was featured on this week’s episode of Wyatt Cenac’s Problem Areas on HBO. Gaddis, Assistant Professor in Civil Society and Community Studies, has conducted interviews with a number of sites, including Minneapolis Public Schools, to bring light to the importance of real food and real jobs in American public schools. Her upcoming book “The Labor of Lunch” focuses on frontline kitchen and cafeteria workers telling the story transitioning away from serving “airline-type” pre-packaged lunches to cooking school lunches from scratch using locally sourced ingredients. Gaddis shared, “I hope the episode will help people realize that we can improve public health, bolster local food economies, and create a more caring society by rejecting the idea that school lunch should be as “cheap” as possible.”

The episode was released on Friday, May 10 at 10:00 pm CST on HBO. Watch the teaser here and be sure to tune in any time after 10 pm on May 10 to watch the full episode.
