This week, Human Development and Family Studies Ph.D. candidate Albert Burgess-Hull, along with 39 other young science leaders, kicked off his year as a fellow of the Yale Ciencia Academy (YCA) for Career Development. This program provides graduate students with opportunities for mentoring, networking, and skills development while enabling them to make contributions to their communities through science outreach. Led by the non-profit organization Ciencia Puerto Rico, one of the largest networks of Hispanic/Latinx scientists in the world, the YCA for Career Development leverages their community to connect doctoral students in biological, biomedical, health and behavioral sciences with advisors, mentors, and professional development opportunities. Burgess-Hull was selected through a competitive application process to participate in the year-long, mostly virtual program. Meet the full class of 2018 YCA Fellows here.
