New Hockey Coach Comes Back to the Badgers & SoHE
The new men’s hockey coach, Tony Granato, has returned to UW-Madison and the School of Human Ecology to finish his Human Development and Family Studies degree. Granato played for the Badgers from 1983 to 1987, but left prior to getting a diploma to pursue a professional career in hockey. Now after playing and coaching in the NHL, he’s back leading his college team and finishing what he started 29 years ago. Granato took the coveted athletic job just 15 credits shy of earning his diploma and is already back to class taking summer courses on campus.
“It’s been fun to get a different perspective after being back,” Tony Granato said. “It’s been really busy, but it gives me a new perspective on what athletes go through on a day-to-day basis for managing time.”
