Awards presented to SoHE alums Neviaser, Toon, Sponem, and Fitzgerald
On September 28, 2018, four distinguished SoHE graduates were presented with Alumni Awards by Dean Soyeon Shim; B. Ann Neviaser, Al Toon, Kim Sponem, and Seamus Fitzgerald. With introductions by 2017 alumni award winners, the awards ceremony took place during the Back to School alumni event in front of an audience of over 100 alumni, faculty and staff.
Distinguished Alumni Awards Go to Neviaser and Toon
In recognition of significant achievements in a chosen profession or life’s work, B. Ann Neviaser (MS ’85), earned SoHE’s Distinguished Alumni Award. Neviaser is President of Neviaser Investments, Inc., and managing partner of the DoubleTree Hotels in Madison and Milwaukee. She is also a founding member of the SoHE Board of Visitors, where she served as advisor to three deans, and honorary co-chair of the SoHE All Ways Forward campaign. Read more.
Al Toon (’95), was presented the Distinguished Alumni Award plaque by Carol Sapoznik (’69), recipient of the award in 2017, in recognition of his significant achievements in a chosen profession or life’s work. Toon is an owner and partner in Olson Toon Landscaping and, in recognition of his college and professional football career, a member of the New York Jets Ring of Honor and the UW Athletic Hall of Fame. Distinguished Alumni Award Goes to Sponem
In recognition of endeavors to improve human life, Kim Sponem (’90), was presented with the Wisconsin Idea Alumni Award plaque by Carol L. Anderson (’65 BS, ’69 MS), recipient of the award in 2017. Sponem is CEO and President of Summit Credit Union. Under her guidance, Project Money and Summit’s CUatWork each received Governor’s Financial Literacy Award. Read more.
Fitzgerald Earns Early Career Award
In recognition of outstanding graduates under age 40, Seamus Fitzgerald (’12), is presented with the Early Career Alumni Award plaque by Dean Shim. Fitzgerald is Northwestern University’s Assistant Director of Major Gifts, Alumni Relations, & Development for the Chicago Region. He is a member of the Chicago chapter of the Wisconsin Alumni Association, serving as Volunteer Coordinator on their 2016-2017 Board of Directors. Read more.
